*Due to this dress being worn at an outdoor event, the lace and silk around the hem of the dress show signs of fraying when viewed up close and the hemline isn't as bright white as the rest of the dress. The cleaner aimed to preserve the condition of the lace around the hem as much as possible, and for that reason he couldn't clean it as vigorously along the hem. In photos it is indistinguishable (as you can see from the photos of the dress on a hanger -- that's how it looks now after dry cleaning) and in person it is only recognizable when closely inspecting the hem of the dress. If you're going to take off an inch or two of the length anyway, this probably won't even be an issue and the rest of the dress is like new*
